By implementing strategic afforestation measures, we seek to protect these vital off-roads while promoting economic upliftment for the local communities. For this afforestation program we are focusing on two indigenous shrubs namely Nigalo (Arundinaria falcata) and Amriso (Broom Grass). In Chapakot, where landslides pose an annual threat, our program focuses on planting trees that not only provide environmental benefits but also offer economic opportunities to the villagers. We are dedicated to selecting plant species that can be fully utilized for livelihood improvement, such as those yielding valuable raw materials for handicrafts, fodder for cattle, eco-friendly broom and so. Through community involvement and sustainable practices, the Merit Green Initiative program aims to create a win-win situation, safeguarding the roads from landslides while empowering the villagers with economic prospects.
